About FreeStudentTools
Built for students, by people who get it.
FreeStudentTools.com was created with a simple mission: give students access to professional-grade document tools — completely free, with zero compromises on privacy.
Why We Built This
Students constantly need to scan notes, convert PDFs, compress files for submission, merge documents, and generate citations. The tools that do this well are either expensive (Adobe Acrobat, iLovePDF Premium) or demand your email address, upload your files to their servers, and add watermarks to your documents.
That's not fair to students. So we built something better.
How It Works (The Technical Part)
Everything on FreeStudentTools.com runs directly in your browser using modern JavaScript libraries. No file ever leaves your device.
- OCR Scanner: Powered by Tesseract.js — professional-grade OCR running entirely in your browser. Supports 15+ languages.
- PDF Converter: Uses PDF.js (by Mozilla) to extract text, and docx/SheetJS libraries to build Word and Excel files. Built-in OCR for scanned PDFs.
- PDF Compressor: Uses PDF.js and pdf-lib to re-render and compress PDF pages entirely in-browser.
- Image Compressor: Uses the browser's native Canvas API to compress JPG, PNG, and WebP images — no external libraries required.
- PDF Merger: Combines multiple PDFs into one using pdf-lib, entirely client-side.
- PDF Page Extractor: Pulls specific pages or ranges from any PDF using pdf-lib. Supports formats like 1,3,5-8.
- Citation Generator: Generates APA 7th, MLA 9th, and Chicago 17th edition citations in pure JavaScript — no network requests of any kind.

Keeping the Lights On
This site is free because we display Google AdSense advertisements. These are standard display ads that appear around the page content — never inside the tools themselves, and never near action buttons. If you find the tools useful, simply leaving ads enabled is all the support we need.
