Replaced the Vanier CGS and CGS-D from the 2025 competition, and now funds international students at Canadian institutions. Apply through your Canadian university — institutional deadlines vary (mid-September to early October); the agency deadline is around 1 November. Maximum of three applications per person.
Eligibility Requirements
- Nominated by Canadian institution (you cannot apply directly)
- Intending to pursue a full-time PhD at a Canadian university
- Excellent academic record (GPA equivalent to A+ in last 2 years)
- Leadership qualities and research potential
